This is my deck at the bottom of the garden. Pvaz has complained incessantly about the ugly block wall. My hubby has gone to Malta for a week to work, and I knew this was my chance to UPGRADE. If I listen to him, nothing will happen.
I like the fait accompli bit! 🙂
Now this is in its early infancy, but I have gotten this far.
That is an old bbq that I used to plant my Morning Glories. Remind me to never do that again. I think I have three dying ones left.
That fecking paint was like Sarah Palin’s makeup. It just wouldn’t go into the pores. Son said it needs a second coat, daughter said it needed more flowers. I plan on painting the trellis that you may see lying in the RHC, a bright purple colour.
I have also and too, undertaken this craft project. It involves cans of dog food.
These will be lovely little lanterns in time…Of course, Ali is like a house now.
It is all very raw at the moment, so give me a chance.
As son said, it needs a second coat. Feck that! I told him it was rustic and charming. I am going for the distressed look.
And yes, I need to repot that plant and do the deck.
Looks pretty good to me!
Love all the creativity! Maybe a mural on that wall? (Morning glories would be easy to paint..)
Now that is an idea!
If only I could paint murals.
I painted trailing morning glories all over a wall for a friend in London eons ago. Apparently years later neither rain. hail or London smog had managed to shift it. If only I was in Ireland… 🙂
🙂
Moles!!! How are you? (boodog from Mudflats) Shall we head on over to Dublin with our paint tins?
BOODOG!! How great to hear from you, you changed your moniker and I didn’t realise it was you. I don’t think they’d let us on the plane with tins of paint, Irish will just have to dream of what might have been. 🙂 I’ve been trying to work out how to post that pic I did for Mudflats of Sarah being eaten by a bear but can’t get Photobucket to work here. 😦
Invite Kaytria she’ll paint the mural for you.
Oh Moles, Titlewave and Kayt (who has visited me twice and is an artist extraordinaire.) If only I had you guys here. Surfer dude son (currently in San Diego) has also been known to paint murals. I went up to his room for the spray paints, and found all of them – empty.
I know enough to stop when I am ahead. If I start doing a mural, god knows what the outcome would be. You have seen my stick figure drawings?
Moles, can you send me your pic via email? irishgirl997@ymail.com If you do, tell me to check it. I never look at that account. That is why I have missed all the scoops on Palin. 🙂
The wall is currently white, so you could always find a picture you like, project it on the wall, and then copy it.
I plan to try and grow something on it – like an evergreen creeper. I neglected to mention that I bought one yesterday, it is a honeysuckle thingy. I hope it does better than my morning glories. However, I do like that idea very much.
And by the way, I loved your email addy. What can I say? Curiosity killed the cat!
Sorry, but my e-mail addy comes from quite a boring place. I’m an X-Man fan plus at the time my job required me to travel internationally.
The Palin pic is on its way to the email address you put up above. Enjoy. 🙂
You could always put a fence of trellis in front of it for a “wind break” (painted white), plant morning glories in front to climb on it, no one could see the brick wall and your bar-b-q’s behind it! Call it your potting shed! Voila! You can nail some of those dog food lights on the posts of the trellis for mood-lighting, also too.
I am so going with dog food lights! Thank you MrsG.
Guys, I’m going to be moving next year to a house in town with a garden that is basically a patio (or cement block!) two strips of flower beds and a brick wall. You’re all invited to bring your creativity to the project!
Love what you’re doing, Irish. But most of all I want to know how to kill morning glories. They are the bane of my life.
“You’re all invited to bring your creativity to the project!”
Do I need to unpack everything else and cancel the U-Haul then??
Shit! No more cement pond? Still in spite of that, I will come and visit and show you how to destroy morning glories.
Definitely email IG with that pic, moles! And if you’re any good at stick figures, she should hire you to be her artistic director.. 🙂
🙂
She doesn’t need me, her stick figures are totally matchless 🙂
First, purple is our favorite color, so high marks for that. Second, the clematis should grow and grow and will, over time, cover that wall. However, the idea of projecting a picture (maybe a Monet waterlily type thingy, with lots of PURPLE) over the wall and doing a rough impressionist interpretation would be awesome.(although I wasn’t bothered by the old wall, I thought it looked organic)
