Does Anyone Else Feel Utterly Hopeless?

These last few days remind me of the horrible feeling I had when trump stole the election.

William Barr was put in there to whitewash the Mueller report and he did so with gusto. This is a travesty. Even a  blind man can see all the links to the Russians. What on earth happened?

Mitch McConnell and the rest of the GOP  have really done a number on the US.

I think it’s time to take to the streets with pitchforks. This can not be allowed to go any further.

And on this side of the Atlantic, we have Brexit. Another power grab by the the conservatives  (Tories).

I feel so disillusioned.

    OMG…

Barr has an almost ludicrous record of making nasties disappear for Republican Presidents, going back many administrations. It’s a wonder he’s not crippled from carrying all those buckets of whitewash.

  3. Not utterly hopeless but I’ve come close a time or three.

My dear mother, a retired nurse, died this winter at 86 years young. I miss her like crazy. Her memory is for a blessing, so may I share some of the best wisdom Nurse Donna ever shared with me?

We need to be especially kind to ourselves, take especially good care of ourselves, especially in times of trouble, in challenging, interesting times. We take good care of ourselves, we can take better care of others and the world around us, eh?

If all else fails and I can’t take any more of the endless hateful sticky nasty magamania, I resist the urge to crawl back in the bed, pull the covers up over my head, and eat Velveeta right out of the box, oh, ick!
Nurse Donna’s Norwegian dairy-farming grandparents pass me the extra sharp cheddar as I turn it all off, walk away, take a break, indulge in some dark chocolate and binge-listen to Joni Mitchell and Luke Kelly while crying in my tea. 🤦🏽‍♀️

Nurse Donna might suggest a nap, a warm bath and fresh clothes, some fresh air and sunshine, playtime with the dog, bake some cookies/brownies/challah, go for a swim or a bike ride or berry-picking, sit somewhere quiet with a good book to read.

She would also remind you to always remember and never forget, Irishgirl, that you are strong and brave and smart and dearly loved.
Sending you hugs and sweet dreams from sunny Florabama. I think I ate all the chocolate.🤷🏽‍♀️

I’m so sorry to hear about your mother. Thank you for your advice, I will take it. I might even have a listen to Luke Kelly. I’m in the extremely lucky position to have celebrated my mother’s 92nd birthday last week. Love and hugs to you.
