More Russian Connections Emerging

How did Betsy DeVos land that plum cabinet job in education? Maybe with the help of her brother, Erik Prince?

The United Arab Emirates arranged a secret meeting in January between Blackwater founder Erik Prince and a Russian close to President Vladimir Putin as part of an apparent effort to establish a back-channel line of communication between Moscow and President-elect Donald Trump, according to U.S., European and Arab officials.

The meeting took place around Jan. 11 — nine days before Trump’s inauguration — in the Seychelles islands in the Indian Ocean, officials said. Though the full agenda remains unclear, the UAE agreed to broker the meeting in part to explore whether Russia could be persuaded to curtail its relationship with Iran, including in Syria, a Trump administration objective that would likely require major concessions to Moscow on U.S. sanctions.

Though Prince had no formal role with the Trump campaign or transition team, he presented himself as an unofficial envoy for Trump to high-ranking Emiratis involved in setting up his meeting with the Putin confidant, according to the officials, who did not identify the Russian.

Prince was an avid supporter of Trump. After the Republican convention, he contributed $250,000 to Trump’s campaign, the national party and a pro-Trump super PAC led by GOP mega-donor Rebekah Mercer, records show. He has ties to people in Trump’s circle, including Stephen K. Bannon, now serving as the president’s chief strategist and senior counselor. Prince’s sister Betsy DeVos serves as education secretary in the Trump administration. And Prince was seen in the Trump transition offices in New York in December.

Further and further down the rabbit hole we go and there is smoke billowing out of that thar hole.

I thought the above tweet was rather clever. I do realise I’m talking to myself – but what the hell. I enjoy my own company. 🙂

      I think it’s brilliant!

Sorry you’re talking to yourself. I don’t know what to say anymore – that and I’m trying not to get overwhelmed.

Blackwater came under increasing criticism after the Nisour Square massacre in September 2007, in which Blackwater employees opened fire in a crowded square in Baghdad, killing 17 Iraqi civilians and seriously wounding 20 more. Three guards were convicted in October 2014 of 14 manslaughter charges, and another of murder, in a U.S. court.[28]

One Of Prince’s security teams. He had something like 980 of em.

Hell, he has a home in Abu Dhabi. Crooked SOB he is!

    Even more –

Two years before joining the Trump campaign as a foreign policy adviser, New York business consultant Carter Page was targeted for recruitment as an intelligence source by Russian spies promising favors for business opportunities in Russia, according to a sealed FBI complaint.

Page confirmed to ABC News that he is the individual identified as “Male-1” in a 2015 court document submitted in a case involving the Russian spies.

Page told ABC News he cooperated in the case, and felt the Feds “unmasked” him by describing him in January 2015 in a manner that would be known to energy insiders.

“I didn’t want to be a spy,” he said in an interview early Monday afternoon. “I’m not a spy.”

I still wonder about the Manafort thing. Manafort was with the McCain campaign when McCain ran for president in 2008 but was let go because of his foreign connections even back then. (I think it was before Sarah arrived on the scene.) So, it’s not as though the Republican party was unaware of all this. What’s that story Trump likes to tell at his rallies about the snake? – “Well, you knew I was a snake when you picked me up”.

  9. This is all very confusing for my weary brain, however, the takeaway seems to be … you can run, but you can’t hide. Everything is uncoverable .
