Most people think of Hitler when they think of nmp, but I think of Nero. But Nero wasn’t elected, and was only 30 when he died. Don’t know why nmp reminds me of Nero, but maybe it’s the hope that America’s best days are after nmp’s reign, just as Rome’s best days followed Nero.

Interesting that you should say that. My thinking has always been Caligula. He has that same delusional attitude that he is somehow Divine. He thinks he is a genius and every whim of his is dictate. He would be executing people if he thought he could get away with it. And it wouldn’t surprise me if he tried once he got into office.

Caligula is a good comparison too. He was Nero’s uncle, so that delusional attitude must have run in the family.

I’ve tried taking a break from the madness that seems to come up everyday with this dictator-wannabe. I’ve read articles and comments from all sides. I’ve read that some think he is going tout the country straight, he’s going to show it to those nasty liberals, he wants to destroy the country, etc.

What I see is someone who grew up lonely, a bit of a misfit who probably grew up without loving parents, but had the advantage of money. He learned that money has power. Money has the power to overcome any of his social disadvantages and give him the attention he has craved all his life. I don’t think he is out to destroy the country- actually I think he’d love to be thought of as the beloved savior that all Americans look up to. He wants popularity and his only way to get that has been with money and power.
I’m sure he thinks he’s very intelligent, but like Palin, hasn’t bothered to do the homework, and he hides that fact ferociously. It makes him too susceptible to the advice of others (which he will claim as his own) and I’m sure that’s behind all the flip-flops. He doesn’t have any solid agenda. He’s winging it.

His old insecurities of the “right people” turning away from him and not allowing him to fit in to their society probably drives his childish need for revenge, and that to me is what makes him the most dangerous. Politically he can’t see (or doesn’t bother) the long range implications of his decisions.

Maybe Obama is playing to that. He seems to be accepting Trump into the exclusive President’s Club and Trump is eating it up. Maybe he is buying time, or thinking he can influence Trump somehow by appealing to his ego, suggesting that leaving a positive legacy- The Best! – would be very irresistible to Trump. Whatever it is, I hope he’s got a plan up his sleeve

I also think the worst thing we can do is normalize this idiot’s behavior. I see people in the media discussing his agenda and cabinet picks as if he knows what he is doing. He is being influenced by the worst of the GOP. We can’t let what he is doing to the office of President become the new normal.
