Donald Trump’s Little Bribery Problem

Courtesy of Daily Kos:

In March 2014, Donald Trump opened his 126-room Palm Beach resort, Mar-a-Lago, for a $3,000-per-person fundraiser for Pam Bondi. The Florida attorney general, who was facing a tough re-election campaign, had recently decided not to investigate Trump University. …

Since he began his run for the White House, Trump has repeatedly claimed that Bondi is merely someone he has supported politically. But his fundraising efforts for her were extensive and varied: In addition to the $25,000 donation from his foundation and the star-studded Mar-a-Lago event, Trump and his daughter Ivanka each gave $500 to Bondi’s campaign in the fall of 2013. The following spring, Ivanka and her father donated another $125,000 to the Republican Party of Florida ― Bondi’s single biggest source of campaign funds.

When Trump “rented” that same space for his campaign, he billed his own presidential election some $140,000. But when Pam Bondi was having her fundraiser, Mar-a-Lago came with a price tag of just $4,856. That’s a 97 percent discount for Bondi. Quite the deal from Mr. I-Make-Tough-Deals.

As Joe Biden would say, this is a big f*cking deal.

I’d like to know just when exactly Trump and Bondi become such good friends. Because if the first time they talked was when Bondi rang him looking for a contribution then those optics are not so good at all.

I hope Hillary keeps hammering him on this and that the media does their bloody job.

    It was ever thus –

…in 1985, Trump was caught exceeding legal campaign donation limits by funneling funds through 18 subsidiary companies, which is technically legal, but is essentially a corporate version of the crime that sent right-wing provocateur Dinesh D’Souza to federal prison.

He was fined in the 1990s for exceeding legal campaign donation limits again by more than $50,000. Then, in 2000, the state of New York fined Trump $250,000 for illegally concealing his lobbying activities.

And currently, Bondi is not the only state attorney general to whom Trump has donated in his efforts to defray the scandal over “Trump University,” which the New York attorney general’s office bluntly called “a fraud from beginning to end” on Tuesday.

Thank you. It is about time the media started doing their job and reporting the truth. Hillary Clinton has done nothing illegal. Period. The private server probably wasn’t a good idea. Bad judgement at the most.

Donald Trump on the other hand has committed illegal acts. Undoubtedly.

The difference that was brought up in that interview by Rep. Collins was complete shite. Clinton solicits donations that she gives to charities. The Clinton Foundation has a grade A rating.

Donald on the other hand gives donations illegally to curry favour with politicians – otherwise known as bribery.

    Comey’s latest…

“He elaborated on his decision not to recommend charges against Clinton, saying that it was not a difficult decision: “At the end of the day, the case itself was not a cliff-hanger; despite all the chest-beating by people no longer in government, there really wasn’t a prosecutable case.”
