At first, I thought that “birther” stuff from Trump re Cruz was nonsense. Then I took an hour, read some articles, looked at some documents, and now agree with you: Ted Cruz is NOT a “natural born” citizen as required by Article II of the U. S. Constitution to be eligible for the presidency. Cruz IS a “naturalized” citizen–becoming one a birth–because his mother was (apparently) a U. S. citizen. However, he is NOT a “natural born” citizen, because he was born in Canada, not on U. S. soil.
So, yes, he’s a U. S. citizen and was a naturalized citizen from birth. However, he is not “natural born” and therefore cannot lawfully hold the office of president (or vice-president).
At minimum, it’s an arguable issue, and is absolutely NOT settled law (as Cruz contends) by any means. If he receives the GOP nomination, I hope a lawsuit regarding this is brought by someone with standing.
I don’t believe he’s a natural born anything. I think he’s the spawn of something quite unspeakable that should be sprayed before he infects the whole country.

I understand that it often happens that those of us in politics don’t get the nominee we want, yet we nevertheless unify behind the candidate who wins our party’s nomination. If those who don’t get their way pick up their marbles and go home, party politics doesn’t work. That has always been my view, until now. Donald Trump has altered the political equation because he has altered the moral equation. For this lifelong Republican, at least, he is beyond the pale. Party loyalty has limits.
No votes have yet been cast, primary elections are fluid, and sobriety often prevails, so Mr. Trump is hardly the inevitable Republican nominee. But, stunningly, that is now something that is quite conceivable. If this scenario comes to pass, many Republicans will find themselves in a situation they once thought unimaginable: refusing to support the nominee of their party because it is the best thing that they can do for their party and their country.

I just read that Bill O’Reilly stated that if Bernie Sanders wins the election, he will flee to Ireland! Start the petition to keep him out, he is a cancer that spreads fast. I believe that Cruz’s mother became a Canadian citizen, since she appears on the voter rolls in Canada. As an American citizen, that can not be legal. Time to investigate that father of his, the uber religious senior Cruz and his “church” Is he paying taxes at all? He firmly believes his son was born to be the leader of the USA if not the world. He is the second coming!! Time to have mental competancy tests for anyone running for office in this screwed up country. They all think that since W made it TWICE, and PayMe almost made it that insanity is GOOD.
