The enormity of his death is just hitting me.

  4. PGFan says:

I am so sad, been crying on and off all day. I saw him in concert many times including Live Aid and his 50th Birthday celebration at Madison Square Garden. I have newspaper clippings around here someplace from when he recorded ‘Young Americans’ in Philadelphia. It’s just so shocking.

I never had the the good fotune to see him ilve. You were lucky!

      • PGFan says:

I grew up in NJ, right between Philadelphia and New York. It was very convenient to go to concerts (if you could get tickets!). I’m having a quilt made up of my old concert t-shirts, found two of his! I can’t imagine how I feel when my other two idols pass, Peter Gabriel (hence PGFan) and Bruce Springsteen.

David’s duet with Bing is one of my favorites, it’s not only very well done, but by an unlikely duo.

    Whoa!!
Bells at a 634-year-old church tower in the Netherlands rang out the tune of his 1969 classic “Space Oddity” on Monday.
The Gothic-style Dom Tower is the Netherlands’ tallest church tower, standing at 368 feet. It was built between 1321 and 1382, according to Holland.com, and its 13 bells weigh 800 to 18,000 pounds.
