GOP Establishment Afraid Of Their Own Creation – Updated X 2

trumpcarsonCourtesy of The Washington Post:

Less than three months before the kickoff Iowa caucuses, there is growing anxiety bordering on panic among Republican elites about the dominance and durability of Donald Trump and Ben Carson and widespread bewilderment over how to defeat them.

Party leaders and donors fear that nominating either man would have negative ramifications for the GOP ticket up and down the ballot, virtually ensuring a Hillary Rodham Clinton presidency and increasing the odds that the Senate falls into Democratic hands.

The party establishment is paralyzed. Big money is still on the sidelines…

You see the establishment thought that Carson and Trump would self destruct long before now, but the two men refuse to go away. According to Nikki Haley, the base thought that once they had won the House and the Senate, life was going to be rosie, except it wasn’t. No bills were sent to the President. Nothing happened. Ha! Big fecking surprise. And all the big money is sitting on the sidelines, waiting to see what will happen.

The apprehension among some party elites goes beyond electability, according to one Republican strategist who spoke on the condition of anonymity to talk candidly about the worries.

“We’re potentially careening down this road of nominating somebody who frankly isn’t fit to be president in terms of the basic ability and temperament to do the job,” this strategist said. “It’s not just that it could be somebody Hillary could destroy electorally, but what if Hillary hits a banana peel and this person becomes president?”

Well GOP, the Kochs and you built this, and now you are afraid of the monsters you have created.

669Meanwhile, back in Iowa, the Trumpet has gone all out against Carson.

Donald Trump on Thursday told Iowa’s voters that those who support Ben Carson are “stupid” to believe the “crap” that is his life story, part of a stunning 95-minute tirade that included his most aggressive attack yet on his closest competitor.

The real estate mogul’s pugnacious demeanor was a stark departure from the far more restrained Trump on display at Tuesday’s debate, when he declined to attack Carson while standing right next to him. He criticized the retired neurosurgeon repeatedly, said Hillary Clinton is playing the “women’s card big league,” ridiculed Marco Rubio as “weak like a baby” and vowed to “bomb the s*** out of (ISIS).”

Toward the end of his wide-ranging complaints about the country and competition, Trump mocked Carson’s narrative about his violent temper as a youth that was calmed only when he prayed to God and asked for deliverance, an event that Carson describes as a miracle. That story of redemption has underpinned much of Carson’s support in the Hawkeye State.

At one point, Trump walked away from the podium and flipped his belt buckle up and down to ridicule what Carson has described as a key event in his life: that Carson, as a boy, once tried but failed to stab someone only to have the knife broken by a belt buckle.

This is what the GOP has been reduced to. You can see why the establishment is worried. 😉

Update: Now Trump is comparing Carson to a child molester.

  1. I’m reading my dad’s 1925-1930ish MacMillan Press copy of Ivanhoe.from his high school English years. It’s a little hardbound pocket sized edition with itty bitty print and edited by Alfred Hitchcock. There have been any number of times when the antics and dialogue of the Norman antagonists could be lifted and applied to the GOP. It’s pretty weird, given the fact it was written in 1819, but I guess egos, the sense of entitlement and pretentious behavior are found throughout the continuum. Making me laugh, that’s for sure.

You reap what you sew GOP. They are praying for a crop failure now to save a few shillings to find a miracle. “Sorry Charlie”… and David Koch. You made this mess, now live with it! Let the adults finish cleaning up and let us get back on track with some sanity and compassion! We are not all lemmings!

You know the funny thing is, if they get rid of Trump and Carson, the base may desert them and not vote at all. I was reading the comments from the WP and this was what was being said. The base are sick of the establishment. Even if they bring in Romney, they are doomed.

  3. In our most recent election, Seattle had the worst voter turnout since 1936 when votes began to be tallied. Yeah, it’s on off year, but still I think there’s a saturation point where folks just get fed-up and tired of it all. This article speaks of automatic voter registration.to boost voter turnout. http://www.seattletimes.com/seattle-news/politics/turnout-in-states-off-year-election-headed-for-record-low/
