Back in April, 2011 the old hooah dived head-first into the controversy surrounding unions in Wisconsin and the loss of their collective bargaining rights. Courtesy of The Huffington Post:
Sarah Palin defended Wisconsin’s governor at a tea party tax day rally Saturday, telling hundreds of supporters that his polarizing union rights law is designed to save public jobs.
Braving snow showers and a frigid wind outside the state Capitol building, the former Alaska governor and GOP vice presidential candidate told tea partyers she’s glad to stand with Gov. Scott Walker. Hundreds of labor supporters surrounded the rally, trying to drown Palin out with chants of “Hey-hey, ho-ho, Scott Walker has got to go!” and “Recall Walker!”
Sarah Palin wasn’t fooling anyone and as one blogger put it…
On Friday, Palin waded into the Wisconsin union debate, with a typically ignorant and ill-informed Facebook post. In her post, Palin managed to simultaneously try to polish her labor credentials, even as she blasted the Wisconsin public employee union and urged its members to break away from their leadership.
In other words, while sucking up to the union members (even repeatedly addressing them as “brothers and sisters”) Palin secretly pulled out a knife and stuck it in the back of the union workers. She must think these people are really stupid.
Union members must “sacrifice and carry our share of the burden,” Palin wrote.
Palin is nothing is not predictable in her comments. And she’s also dishonest. Her buddies like Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity would never address union members as “brothers and sisters.” At least Limbaugh and Hannity are being honest in their open contempt for organized labor.
Palin tries to have it both ways. Her husband enjoyed a nice, well-paid union job. She then uses this fact to try to bolster her cred with union members. And then, at the same time, she embraces the extreme far-right policies of today’s GOP: a party that has a pathological hatred of unions and seeks to abolish them completely.
Well the old hooah’s PAC has dried up, Fox doesn’t seem to be show-casing her ugly maw any longer, and the bitter old crone is crying out for attention. From her latest FB rant…
Sarah Palin knows diddly-squat about Obamacare and the unions. Her union *brothers and sisters* are in no danger of losing benefits. The issue that the unions have with Obamacare is that in fact it works too well. From Politico:
Why do unions feel these plans are threatened?
That’s easy. Smaller employers who now pay into these multiemployer plans may look at the deal their employees can get on the new Obamacare health insurance exchanges and decide they would be better off there. The unions are also worried about rising costs.
“The threat is that employers and in particular small employers are going to say, ‘I basically have low-income employee[s] who would be better off in the exchange than they would be with my contribution to a Taft-Hartley plan, so I’m going to walk away,” said Tim Jost, a professor at Washington and Lee University and expert on the Affordable Care Act. “That then undermines the Taft-Hartley plans because fewer employers contribute to them, and fewer employees will want them. It’s going to undermine the ability of the unions to have a benefit they can offer their members.”
So stop your fear-mongering you hateful old cow. And at least try and get your facts straight in that drugged-up head of yours. If I can google *unions and Obamacare* to see what the truth of the matter is, then so can you. You are nothing but a bald-faced liar.
