Last Tuesday, the GOP lost the election – big time. They need to understand that. The Democrats gained seats in the Senate, in the House and won an electoral college victory. The GOP were well and truly trounced. And they were fecking amazed, the gobshites didn’t even see it coming. They thought they were being oh so smart as they tried to denigrate Nate Silver and his predictions over a week ago.
Dean Chambers, a conservative blogger who gained popularity on the right by setting up a junk-science Romney-boosting site called UnSkewed Polls, implied that FiveThirtyEight was skewed by Silver’s sexual orientation. Chambers wrote that Silver is “of very small stature, a thin and effeminate man with a soft-sounding voice that sounds almost exactly like the ‘Mr. New Castrati’ voice used by Rush Limbaugh on his program.” (To which Silver responded with a classic Tweet: “Unskewedpolls argument: Nate Silver seems kinda gay + ??? = Romney landslide!”).
They didn’t respond with reason – only malice – revealing just what sort of horrible feckers they are. Nate Silver had the last laugh on that one.
The problem with the GOP, (apart from their policies), is that they won’t listen to reason. Within minutes of the election being called, Bill O’Reilly was mourning the fact that the white vote wasn’t enough anymore and that all people wanted was *free stuff.* Way to go, Billo! You really pulled in a whole new slew of voters there!
The ill-informed Republicans only listen to the likes of Rush Limbaugh, and Fox News idiots like Hannity, Palin, O’Reilly and the late Beck. These people are in the entertainment industry…they are making money by peddling lies and fear-mongering. The more outrageous the lie, the higher the ratings…it’s all about the moolah. Hello GOP. You have been had by the capitalistic society that you promote.
I met my friend Gerry this morning for coffee. We had a merry old time discussing the election and the stupified reaction from the RWNJs. Gerry asked me a very salient question…how can you get so many Americans to vote against their own self-interest?
Hint…it was the Red States that voted for Romney. What do they watch on TV?
Keep sticking your arse in the air, and your head in the sand. See where that will get you.

The other Grover is just a monster that doesn’t give a shite about anybody else. And a dickhead and a bloody wanker. Did I mention that for some strange reason, he considers himself very important? Kinda like that Trump thing and various others. All legends in their very own sick little minds.
John Steinbeck once said, “Socialism never took root in America because the poor see themselves not as an exploited proletariat but as temporarily embarrassed millionaires.” And I do think that is part of the story.
At the same time, I’m not wholly convinced that people’s self-interest is the central issue. If you look at the emotional triggers, folks on the right appear to respond to, ideas of patriotism, family, loyalty – values that have an underlying theme of conformity, The left apparently are more forgiving of lack of conformity (as long as it’s not being right-wing) and believe strongly in looking after those in need, whatever form the need takes. This is hardly exhaustive but the point is that as long as political positions are framed in such a way as to press the right, or left, emotional buttons whether the voter will be better or worse off may not the biggest consideration. There are after all progressive millionaires as well as right-wing people living in poverty.
However, if we are talking duped, I would say all Republicans are duped – rich, poor and in the middle. Contrary to what they believe: “It turns our that for at least the last 60 years the economy has always done significantly better under Democrats. This has been a well known fact for many years, but it has received almost no recognition in the mainstream media, in spite of the media’s alleged liberal bias.”
Even the Japanese Times had something to say about it in October 2008.

I mentioned that to Gerry too. They all think they are going to be the 1% at some point in their future – they are hedging their bets. God help them.
I also think that they are so firmly entrenched in Republicanism and hatred, they don’t even really know what it is that they believe in anymore. They are on one side of the political fence, and they hate the Democrats, and Fox news is feeding them their little dose of hatred every day. They are stuck in a bubble of ignorance.
I think for those who appear to have lost any wits they may have had – in the words of Steve Schmidt, the “loons and whackos” – you are right. You see it so clearly with the rabid Palin supporters, they change their minds in a trice depending on prevailing perceptions. At this point, the positions they take are not even vaguely compatible one with another.
The people who interest me most are the “educated ones”, who also spout incoherent nonsense and damn the facts. I read something the other day written by a Harvard physicist who was on about Obama destroying the country. Well, one good thing – I used to be a bit intimidated by physicists. I’m cured. 😉
Sarah Palin was perplexed Mit Lost. She is still perplexed she lost. Well Sarah, I’m perplexed you can’t figure out the majority of America is fed up with all your lies and those of your fellow Repubs that think you can lie your way into office. Our Government is Of the People, By the People and For the People….not for the people trying to take over the Government for their own pleasure and make money. For a country to work, we pay taxes for the things that we can’t do by ourselves. Roads, bridges, Armies, taking care of the elderly, poor and handicapped and rebuild from natural disasters, our wounded soldiers, our schools, education and safety of our food and drugs, treatments for killing diseases, communications, space exploration…..you know, things we need to give so everyone will have a better life. The more you have, the more you give to make us a stronger nation and share with the world.
You had your chance to lead, but you quit. You didn’t care about the people who voted for you. You became more important than what you achieved or elected to do. No one shed many tears when you quit as you were not capable of doing your job. They had already figured out you were a con artist and lied supreme. We figured you out and we have figured out the Tea Party and the rest of the narcissists in the Republican party. You will be perplexed for ever…..we will not be. Why don’t you sit down and read that Constitution some day and figure out just why our forefathers wrote it the way they did. It’s worked for over 200 years and no reason to not use it now. It is not about religion taking over.
